30 Seconds To Mars (2)

December 31st, 2006 by nekkid

I had to edit my entry about this band because i realized i was very wrong about something. I originally said that the lyrics suck and don’t make any sense. When i woke up this morning i was lying in bed and the song “From Yesterday” popped into my mind and i suddenly realized the meaning behind one of the lines. (That song has been stuck in my head!) I got up and went to my computer to read the lyrics again, and suddenly it all makes sense! I started reading the lyrics of the other songs and realized that not only do they make sense, but they are actually brilliant because they are written in a cryptic way that you have to think about to understand. You have to read them or listen to them with a clear mind and let it sink in. There is a deep meaning in every song.

My Very Favorite Commercial Of All Time

December 31st, 2006 by nekkid

It makes me really mad that i can’t find a better quality version of this commercial, because i LOVE this commercial so much, but i can’t even see his face! Every time i see it i giggle like a giddy little school girl. I don’t know what it is, but i’m pretty sure it’s the look on the the guy’s cute face with his lip curled up like Elvis and just how hottt he is shaking this cow. There is a new one on tv now with 2 guys and 2 cows with a different song, but it’s just not the same! I wish i had recorded this on DVD when i had the chance! I have already contacted Carl’s Jr. but they have not responded yet. I hope they have good news for me! I know some people really hate this commercial and i just don’t get it! How could anyone hate this?!

30 Seconds To Mars – A Beautiful Lie – and a BIZARRE video

December 30th, 2006 by nekkid

30secondstomars_150x200.jpgJared Leto, (who just turned 35 and looks incredible, BTW,) is the singer of the band Thirty Seconds To Mars, with the incredibly hottt Shannon Leto on drums, Tomo Milicevic on guitar, and Matt Wachter on bass. Their 2nd album A beautiful Lie is full of beautifully written (by Jared), dramatic, intriguing songs that have been beautifully produced. His voice is unique and fantastic. Truly, truly fantastic! I have never heard anyone “scream” so beautifully. When he gets quiet and his seductive, breathy, sexy voice begins to growl…oh ya babe! mars.jpg Oh! And they do a cover of Bjork‘s “Hunter.” (Bjork is my favorite singer of all time!) I’m a little surprised that they decided to make the music sound exactly like Bjork’s version, rather than making it their own. Oh well, it was fun to hear it with his voice, and to hear him sing “How American of me” instead of “How Scandinavian of me.”

They made a 13 minute short film for the song “From Yesterday.” (Scroll down to find it.) By the way, the reason i keep linking to AOL video is because of the crystal clear video and audio that i have not seen on other video sites. Anyway, this video is a bizarre, visually stunning film that you should definitely see. (Guys in eyeliner, baby!) ;-)

Who Is God?

December 29th, 2006 by nekkid

p1012683.jpgThe struggles of religious and non religious people is as old as the struggles between people of different religions. The oldest major religion in the world, Hinduism, is 4,000 years old, and some aspects of it are 5,000 years old. (That’s around 2,500 years older than Buddhism and 3,000 years older than Christianity.) I do not know when mankind first began to have religious beliefs, though i imagine mammoths were still walking the Earth at the time.

There has been a lot of debate recently on the Jestertunes blog brought about by certain Christian people attacking gays on his blog. It goes into great detail, delving deeply into the struggle between gays and Christianity. As a gay man who spent a significant portion of my life as a born-again Christian, the debate has got me reminiscing about my own struggle and about my own philosophical ideas about what and who God really is.

I became a born-again Christian as a freshman in high school. I was also openly gay. At first, the two things co-habitated peacefully and happily within me. When i was 16, i even brought my boyfriend to a church service. After a while, the gay side of me and the Christian side of me began to fight with with each other; an increasingly bloody, raging battle which would soon leave the floor of my bedroom and the floor under my chair at church drenched in tears. This battle raged until i was in my first year after high school, when i could no longer stand the strain. I knew i wanted to marry a woman and have children, but my sin was eating away at my soul. I went to my beloved pastor for help. She said she would pray about it some more.
Shortly afterward, during a service, after some powerful praise & worship by singing and clapping and feeling the immense unconditional love and power of God, the Holy Spirit entered the room like a crashing tidal wave of ecstatic love and healing…and God began to speak through the pastor to individual people in the congregation who needed to hear from God. As God began to speak, we all had tears flowing from our eyes or sweat from our brows as we prayed in tongues and praised God, hands still reaching towards Heaven. The pastor looked at me. She opened her mouth to give me the answer i had been seeking for so long. “God says you are dealing with a dead issue!” At that moment, as those words sank in, it was like the earth and time stood still as my heart broke. Numb and in shock, the tears on my face began to dry. I was suddenly in mourning for my faith as i suddenly knew at that very moment that God, as i knew him, did not exist. I barely remember leaving church that day, 15 years ago, but i think i knew deep down inside that i would never see these people, my beloved family of 4 years, again. That holy book closed forever. It was time to start a new life.

It was a confusing time for me. I had to accept the death of my faith, but i also had to figure out the truth behind that faith that had been so strong and real. I had to ask myself if it was all a lie. I knew it was real, but obviously not in the way i had thought. I came to realize that God is us. The Holy Spirit is actually our joined Spirits coming together to help one another in a way so powerful, that it can only be from something outside of ourselves. (Wrong.) God’s unconditional love that i had felt was actually the unconditional love of the people; people who do not even realize they are capable of unconditional love, so they attribute it to God. They have no other way to explain it, because they have been told that it can only come from God. They believe it, totally underestimating themselves and mankind. God is the people themselves. When people say that the Bible is the word of god, they are correct, but unfortunately, they do not understand the truth of what they are saying; that the people who wrote it were only human. In essence, God did not create us, we created, and are, God.

dove9.jpgMy faith did not actually die. It just evolved. My new faith is much more difficult, though, because it is constantly tested. This is why so many have to put their faith elsewhere. I hope i remain strong enough to never lose my faith in Humanity. I hope that some day we will all come together in the truth instead of being divided by lies.

Eating to stop gaining weight

December 28th, 2006 by nekkid

I think i’ve found the secret to food. I haven’t exercised in 5 months and haven’t gained a pound in the last 3. I’ll tell you how!
Ok, i’ve never been “fat,” but a couple of years ago i was about 15 lbs heavier than i am now. Since then, i changed my diet and started walking 1 hour a day & lost 20 lbs, then stopped and started gaining it back, then joined a gym and started losing again, then stopped going to the gym about 5 months ago, and started gaining again. 3 months ago i found a book that has changed my life. 5factor.jpgIt’s called Five Factor Fitness, by Harley Pasternak. It’s a diet and exercise book, but i have not done the exercise part. This book totally clears up all confusion about the connection between food and weight in a way that is so clear and easy to understand that after reading it, i will never eat the way i used to again! It was like someone flipped a switch and suddenly i get it! The guy who wrote it literally knows everything there is to know about food! It does have a pretty specific food program in it, but it also is great for learning some basic rules for healthy eating. So here are my very simple rules that i eat by after reading this book:

Avoid sugar. Never, ever drink soda that is not diet soda. There are some really great tasting diet sodas now, so you have no excuse. Why no sugar? Well, i won’t get into the science of it, but just trust me, sugar and high-fructose corn syrup turns to fat! I really like berries & cream diet Dr. Pepper and strawberry Pepsi Jazz.
Avoid beef. No more burgers or steaks for me! Besides being full of bad fat, all that tough connective tissue builds up in our intestines and just sits there! The way to get rid of it, hydrotherapy. (I haven’t done it yet, but i will soon. I’ll probably lose between 5 and 10 lbs when i do. That will be awesome! I’ll let you know what happens!) I eat tons of chicken, fish, and turkey. (Fish is vital, so don’t live on poultry alone!) I absolutely do not believe in vegetarianism, but it’s not the most unhealthy thing in the world, so whatever.
Avoid white flour. Bad news for pasta and white bread lovers, i know! Why avoid bleached flour? Simple, flour becomes sugar, and sugar becomes fat. Eat whole grain stuff as often as possible. Whole grains actually reverse the effects of consuming fat. McDonald’s has good chicken sandwiches on wheat buns that i like, and Subway has wheat and honey oat breads.

Avoid french fries and gravy. (Consume less fat.)

Do Not Ever go on a low carb diet! Low carb is very bad! It will actually cause some brain damage, and when you give up on it, you will get fatter than you were before. Great, huh?

Acidic is good. Take lemon with your water or iced tea, drink diet soda. The acid is good for your weight and health.

Eat fruits and veggies. Of course, right? Boy, you’d be surprised how many people won’t eat anything green! (Strangely enough, the book says not to drink fruit juices because they are all sugar and no fiber, i think.)
Break all these rules once a week! If there is something that you really love to eat that goes against the rules, go ahead and eat it once a week if you want to. Happiness is healthy.

There are 2 other rules that i do not really follow because they are more difficult for me; drinking lot’s of water and eating 5 meals a day to speed up your metabolism. If you can follow those 2 as well, you will probably do better than just stabilize your weight. Of course, exercising should also be in these rules, but 1) that’s not food and 2) i don’t do it.
So, that’s it! I have been following these rules as much as possible for the past 3 months, and my weight has totally stabilized! I hope i will never again have to worry about gaining weight. (Of course, it has only been 3 months. We’ll see if it keeps working, but i’m pretty confident.) If you want more info, if you want to de-mistify and solve the mistery, read the book, it’s great!

None of this is directly quoted from the book, it’s just what i remember, (or think i remember,) from reading it. At any rate, it’s working for me, i hope it works for you, too!

Christmas Eve Hair Dyeing Party?

December 25th, 2006 by nekkid

hair1.jpgWe all gathered together yesterday. Paul’s aunt, parents, brother and his girlfriend. After eating, paul’s mom decided she wanted me to color her hair. Then his aunt decided she did, too. Then his brother decided he wanted to go bleach blonde again. then Paul decided he wanted to go black. So, i went to the store and bought 5 boxes of different color hair dye, (i got one extra.) The cashier looked at me after seeing all this, as well as the beer, wine, and whiskey, and said, “You having a hair dyeing party?” I chuckled and said “yup.” I went back and spent the rest of the evening coloring hair. It was an only slightly surreal experience, and actually a lot of fun! Why didn’t we have a camera?!

First Featured Tattoo Artist

December 24th, 2006 by nekkid

030.jpgOne thing that i have not written about yet is my love of tattoos. I have some ink on my left forearm so far, and i am constantly searching for ideas for more. The only reason i don’t have more yet is because of the money it costs.

I have also been thinking very seriously about becoming a tattoo artist. In my years of surfing the web for tattoo photos and designs, i have refined my taste in tattoo art. I’ve learned what looks good and not so good, (to me.)

There is a huge emphasis on colorful tattoos in the industry, but i’ve always been much more interested in black tattoos for their bold, clean lines that make an impact from a distance. However, my appreciation of colorful work has grown, too. For black tattoo fans, our choices have been somewhat limited to run-of-the-mill “tribal” style designs or Polynesian and Maori designs. I’ve been on a quest to find new styles of black tat work, and so will begin by featuring an artist who specializes in mind-blowing black tattoos. His name is Tomas Tomas and he’s located in London. His masterful use of geometric patterns and Asian themes sets him apart. He also has a unique and fascinating way of blending color work and black work together for even greater impact. Viewing this site will completely expand your mind as to what is possible in body adornment. Enjoy!
