It is just unreal; how beautiful she is! And what an actress!!!!!! Ever since i first saw Waiting To Exhale…… I can’t get that scene out of my head - where she is in her husband’s closet grabbing up all his clothes wildly, in fire-breathing anger and hatred, with a shakey and breathless voice saying “Get your shit………get your shit……….and GET OUT!!!!!!!” And, after gathering up all his shit, stuffing it into his car, moving it into the driveway, and dousing it, she stands there with eyes narrowed like a cat posessed by the devil, hand on her hip, taking a long drag off her cigarrette, and with an undescribably cool gesture and flare flicks the cigarette into the car as she coolly turns to walk away. (The little diva inside me rehearses that scene over and over again.) She had me. I am hers. She is beautiful. And as Tina Turner……. don’t even get me started. And as Stella……oh shit! But nothing can describe her beauty better than the photos. Now, keep in mind, if you can believe it, she is 48! Unfortunately, Angela Bassett has been in many films i have not yet seen. I’m going to try to see evrything she’s been in.

I have often thought that in my most recent past life, i must have been some one who looked and acted just like Angela Bassett!

Dan was over at our house the other night and posed the question for everyone to answer - Who are the top 3 celebrity men you would like to have sex with? Here are mine:
#1: A man seemingly steeped in mystery, since there is only one photo of him in existence on the internet. Justin Brown, (30-ish) of TLC’s In A Fix. This photo does no justice. He is tall, muscular, gorgeous, butch, and always had the coolest looking facial hair. Oh……. Justin…… mmmmmmm……. j u s t i n………oh yah!

#2: Chris Daughtry, 26, of American Idol fame, and front man for the band Daughtry,(Who’s first album is available NOW.) Chris made watching the show very_ difficult!!!!! (if you know what i mean.) Every time they showed him on screen from the very beginning, i had to bite my lip! And that voice! Fuck! Daughtry MySpace page

#3: Anyone who’s old enough to remember watching Saved By The Bell probably vividly remembers, (as i do,) seeing Mario Lopez, 33, on the screen in skimpy gym shorts that left nothing to the imagiantion. If you don’t, let me just tell you without any doubt, he is well-hung! ‘Oh, hey Slater! Nice dick!’ The only thing that seems to have changed in 20 years is the hair! I’m thinking of starting a club for thirty-something gay men, and our official motto will be “Mario made me gay! All hail Mario!”

Anyone who loved Six Feet Under and saw the last episode witnessed one of the most dramatic moments on television, not just because of what we saw, but because of what we heard. “Breathe Me” by Sia took everyone by surprise. Moulding and exponentially amplifying the emotion of the 6.5 minute scene that had no dialogue, few can forget it. The music video for this song is also pretty unforgettable. Made mostly by flipping through 2,500 actual Polaroid photos taken over 3 days, it is a lot of fun to watch. I’m not sure it’s the first video of this kind, but it is very unique in other ways. (Watch for the storm-trooper and animal-ear shots.) (This version of the song is only 3 minutes, the album version is 4.5.) Also, something you may not know, Sia also sang on the first Six Feet Under soundtrack when she was still the singer for Zero 7, a song called “Distractions.”

Lamb gained huge recognition from their song “Heaven” which was featured on the first Six Feet Under soundtrack. If you love Lamb, (Andrew Barlow and Lou Rhodes,) as much as i do, you probably know that they are no longer together. The 2004 album Between Darkness and Wonder was their last together. However, there is more to hear! There is a remix album called Lamb Remixed with a cool website where you can purchase the album. Also, Best Kept Secrets - The Very Best of Lamb was released last year. If you don’t know Lamb’s music, this is the place to start. Actually, the album What Sound may be a better place to start, because i consider this album to be the best of Lamb. (You can hear non- realplayer clips of these songs on Amazon, though i would probably purchase the music from Lamb’s website.)
But even bigger news is that Lou Rhodes has released her first solo album Beloved One, and she has a MySpace page! Here, you can hear and add 3 of her songs from the album. Driven by beautiful, dramatic melodies - her unique, breathy, warm voice - poweful, deep, stark, pulsing drums - mezmerizing acoustic guitar - and heart wrenching strings, this is an amazing album. So very different from the electronic sound of Lamb, but better than Lamb’s last album, her new album is much more reminiscent of the intricately rhythmic and powerful sound that was Lamb. You could almost think of it as electronic music without the electronics.

Ok, call me weird, but i think Jack Black is pretty cute. And he actually has an incredible voice, which you can hear a couple of times in this movie when he’s not screaming.
Now, if you like to get baked, you will probably want to do so before seeing this movie. If you don’t, you will wish you had. I’m pretty sure this movie was made for watching stoned. I’m not a pot smoker, but i still enjoyed this movie. It is a lot of fun.

Tenacious D, (Jack Black and Kyle Gass,) have a website that you should go to to get you in the mood to go see this movie if you’re not already. You will hear a few songs from the movie, including the “History Of Tenacious D” which is a fun song, brilliantly written of course, with some shockingly great moments where you really hear what great singers they are. NOTE: In order to watch the videos & stuff, you have to turn off the music by clicking on the tiny music note in the box at the top. There is also a brilliantly made music video for a song called “Wonderboy” that is like a scene from a Lord of the Rings movie. Great! (When you get to this link, click on Wonderboy.)

My boyfriend Paul and i had invited some friends to go see Marc Broussard at The Independent in San Francisco because we had a bunch of tickets. We invited our friend Sara, her boyfriend James, and their friend Trevor, a straight guy who we had never met before, as well as three other friends. (Remember this.) We meet for dinner before the concert to discover that Trevor is a very handsome guy with a nice body who apparently enjoys the attention and seems to be flirting with everyone. (At least, in my mind, he’s flirting.) Well, we have a drink with dinner and get nice and relaxed, and at one point, as Trevor is “flirting,” Paul and i look at eachother, and i lean over and whisper to him, “I think we might be able to take this guy home tonight,” (because that’s the kind of secure, fun-loving relationship we have.)
So, we go to the concert, and we’re drinking and having a blast, because Marc Broussard is awesome, and Trevor ends up coming over to stand right next to me and Paul. Well, Paul and i are very affectionate with eachother all the time, and we don’t have to hide it at all in San Francisco, so i’m pressed up against him with my arms around him, playing with his ass, all that fun stuff! Trevor doesn’t seem the least bit bothered by it; he’s smiling and having a good time….. So at some point, i’m drunk enough to reach over and touch Trevor’s ass with a slightly lingering “accidental” brush. He’s standing kind of in front of me at this point, so i can’t really see if anything changed in his face, but he doesn’t move away. It was a very exciting, exhilerating rush for me, so i try it again. Again, no attempt to move away, though there’s plenty of room around us at this point, no one else standing that close to us, so he knows it’s me touching his ass, right? So i do it a couple more times, each time leaving my hand there longer. So far so good, so i finally just cup one ass cheek with my hand and gently let my fingers trace the line of his ass crack. This lasts for maybe about 10 or 20 seconds, (maybe less, it’s kind of a blur,) and then suddenly he turns and walks away. It was a little sad, but i didn’t worry too much about it. So, the concert ends, and i head to the bathroom, and apparently Trevor, Sara and James immediately take off to go home.

The next day i wake up, hung over, painfully remembering stumbling down the sidewalk and puking after the concert, and also remembering bits and pieces of this surreal experience where i was fondling a straight guy’s ass! Suddenly i felt incredibly embarassed, so i decide to just block it out and forget about it.

About a week later, Jerry, (one of the other 3 friends who had gone to the concert with us,) calls to see if we want to go out for dinner and music shopping. So we go out, and as we’re eating dinner, Jerry asks, “So i think Trevor had fun with us. Do you think he’ll want to hang out with us again soon?” Suddenly, i get a bit uncomfortable, and after a moment, i shyly and awkwardly smile and say, “I’m not sure if Trevor will want to hang out with us again.” They both look at me and say, “Why not?” I look at them, and they both have strange, perplexed grins on their faces. Uh-oh. “Well,” i say. “I think it’s possible i may have fondled Trevor’s ass at the concert.” Jerry says, “You think you did, or you did?” “Ok, i did,” i admit. Then Jerry says, “I actually already knew that, I saw the whole thing!” Oh shit! Until this moment, i had completely blocked out the fact that the rest of our friends were standing behind us, and apparently saw it all go down!
A couple of weeks later, we are with Sara, who we’ve already seen since the concert, but the subject of Trevor never came up. We were saying goodbye to her, and i say, “Say hi to James,” and Paul says, “Say hi to Trevor!” I feel this tidal wave of embarassment rush over me and i look at Sara to find that she has this highly amused look on her face with her eyes and mouth wide open looking at me. I use the papers in my hand to cover my face, and she starts laughing hystercally and says, “Oh my god, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that!! Trevor told us about that, and we both called him a liar and told him that you would never do something like that! So it’s true?!” I just keep holding the paper in front of my mouth. Paul’s loving it! “Well, i told him,” she continues, “Even if it did happen, he should consider it a great compliment!!!” We’ve had some great laughs over it since then. We’ve laughed so hard that our stomach muscles couldn’t take anymore. I know this story will live on for a long time to come, and i secretly love it. I am hopeful that Trevor will forgive me if the opportunity ever comes along to invite him to hang out with us again.

I suppose there’s a moral to this story. Never get that drunk, because you never know what stories might follow you around for the rest of your life!

So i clicked on my friend’s photo on my Myspace page, and when his page came up, i heard this awesome song start playing. I looked down to see what it was. It was “Pachuca Sunrise” by Minus The Bear. I immediately had to find out more about this band! So, i went to their website expecting to find one album, only to find that they have 5 albums since 2001. Why have i not heard of these guys before! They are fucking awesome! The new album, Menos El Oso, is the best album i’ve heard in a while. So unique and so incredible!
On their website you can watch the wide-screen video for “Pachuca Sunrise,” which is definately worth seeing! It is fucking trippy, and also fucking HOT if you like seeing hot guys in wet, clinging clothes, twisting & writhing slowly under water……….Yes, definately worth seeing! You can also see another video from this album for a song called “The Game Needed Me,” a beautiful song with a very trippy, mezmerizing sound you will not soon forget! Also, you have to check out their Myspace page to hear 3 of their other songs, see their tour dates, and add their songs to your Myspace page to help spread the word and let your friends hear them. This is the best discovery i’ve made since the Pernice Brothers, (but that is for another post.) Please help me spread the word about this band, because if they are new to me, they will be new to a lot of people, and PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR!!! Enjoy! (Aren’t they cute?)

I got really excited yesterday when i opened up the new Smithsonian magazine and saw a big, beautiful photo of the main pyramid at Chichen Itza and a heading that said, “Help Chichen Itza become one of the New 7 Wonders of the World!” I have stood on the top of that pyramid, and it really is a wonderous thing! (I took this photo when i was there 2 years ago.)
Ok, who can name the 7 wonders of the ancient world? Considering only one of them still stands today, (the great pyramid at Giza,) you’d have to have a good memory for useless facts. That list was written 2,200 years ago, and many of the 7 wonders were already long gone at the time.

On Saturday 07/07/07, there will be a huge ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal to announce the New 7 Wonders of the World, (all of which are still standing.)
